The length of the opening hole demands a driver. Left of centre is ideal from
the tee, as most of the trouble is on the right. There is a cross ditch,
approximately 60 yards short of the green, which is open outwards from the
edge of the fairway on both sides. If this cannot be easily negotiated with the
second, lay up to leave a comfortable approach shot.
Pro's Tip:- A 5 will win the opening hole more times than losing
it. The above advice is a sensible way of easing yourself into the round.
