I take great pleasure in delivering the results for the fourth leg of the North Devon Junior League, which was contested in August, at Portmore, on a classic summer’s day, under clear blue skies.
One team fully understood the powerful advantage of playing at home. The Saunton team could only muster third place this time, trailing the leaders by a significant twenty-one points, thus fully demonstrating the supremacy of playing in your own back yard. Portmore heroically scored 187 points, a further five in front of Libbaton GC in second place.
Maybe history will repeat itself in NY this weekend.
With five points given for a team victory, where the best four of six stableford points count, the current standings from four fixtures are as follows.
13 points - Saunton and Libbaton
11 points – Portmore
10 points – Great Torrington
8 points – Royal North Devon
On Sunday 28th September there will be two finals day, separated by the mighty Atlantic Ocean. My focus will be on the young players of North Devon who will be playing the links of Saunton in the NDJL final. We are teeing off at midday and there will be food in the bar afterwards, where we can switch our attention to the other side of the pond and hopefully, continue to celebrate.
It would be lovely to see you there.
